Imaginative explorers thinking of heading out on a Middle Eastern adventure this year have been advised to go on a Jordan tour.
According to Lonely Planet's travel editor Tom Hall, the country is the perfect destination for those visiting the region for a holiday.
"People go to Jordan and visit Petra, they'll go out and spend some time in the deserts at Al Mudawwarah or maybe they go to A'Aqabah; where there's a beach and diving," he suggested.
In addition, Mr Hall explained that European travellers are increasingly heading to Middle Eastern locations such as Turkey, Egypt, Lebanon, Syria and Israel as they combine history, hospitality and adventure.
He went on to encourage people travelling to this part of the world to do their research before they jet off and to consider taking up some of the "fantastic" volunteering opportunities on offer there.
