Family adventure holidays in Turkey may have just got that little bit easier because of better roads between Izmir and Dalaman, one newspaper suggests.
The Observer reports that individuals who want to embark on a family adventure holiday in a hire car can now make the journey with less hassle.
Writer Annabelle Thorpe explains that a car hire adventure holiday is a new concept for Turkey, despite its landscape being ideal for seeing the country on four wheels.
Its mountains full of pine trees, "vast sweeping landscapes" and small villages make the route through Turkey an interesting one.
"Sadly, a road system that belongs in the 19th century and the Turkish proclivity to see driving as a white-knuckle sport have tended to put visitors off the self-drive option," she states.
But all this has changed and the roads have improved, which has pushed up the number of car hire firms for the imaginative traveller.
Lonely Planet reveals that people can import a car for up to six months in Turkey with no special documents required, but it must leave the country when this period is up.
