Imaginative travellers looking to escape the British rain for some winter sun may wish to consider Morocco, according to the Times.
The newspaper suggested that this is one of the easiest countries in Africa to get to from the UK and there are often plenty of good flight deals to be found.
"Africa is always going to be a lot warmer than Britain in the winter months," it asserted, adding that Marrakesh is a destination to consider.
Recently, the Telegraph recommended a number of the "best" riad hotels on offer in the Morroco city, including the five-star La Villa Des Orangers, Riad Dar One, Riad Noir D'Ivoire and Dar Les Cigognes, which offers lessons on traditional Moroccan home cooking in its kitchen.
Visits to the market, wine tasting and balloon rides at dawn are among the activities imaginative travellers may wish to pursue while visiting the north African city.
Lonely Planet noted that Marrakesh is a "great place" to visit as a family, as children will be particularly taken with sights such as snake charmers and activities such as camel riding.
