According to Katharine Leck, managing director of Berlitz Publishing, the area is "one of the hippest in the world".
Its popularity could be about to rocket following the release of the film Sex and the City 2 as parts of the movie were filmed in Morocco.
The industry figure commented: "Shopaholics are certainly well catered for in Marrakech with its maze of souks offering everything from rugs, furniture, jewellery, antiques, art, books and mementoes to take home."
For those hoping to get away from the hustle and bustle of the crowds, travellers could take a day trip to the old fishing port of Essaouria or enjoy walking in the Ourika Valley, she added.
The ABTA Travel Trends Report recently revealed Morocco is becoming an increasingly popular draw for tourists because of its affordability.
