Oman offers travellers a 'zen-like' getaway

Thursday, May 28, 2009

Oman may be the perfect destination for imaginative travellers to get away from it all this year, it has been suggested.

Situated by the Oman Gulf and near the Hajar mountains, Muscat will provide travellers with respite from the hustle and bustle of the west, according to the Times.

Visitors may wish to stay at the Chedi, a tranquil hotel that offers travellers a place to stay that, nestled in sand dunes, "floats like a whisper on pools and water gardens in which it endlessly reflects itself".

While some people choose to go on holiday for adventure holidays, this destination will offer imaginative travellers something a little more 'zen', the publication asserts.

Muscat has a host of attractions to offer as well as its tranquillity, however. Steeped in Arabic history, the town is home to several museums that pay homage to its exciting past.

Why not take a trip to the hot springs, take a trip to the mountains or relax by the sea?

A ferry service is also available, linking Muscat with the Musandam Peninsula. Soon, travellers will also be able to be transported to many of the islands off the coast.
