Imaginative travellers 'should tee off in Portugal'

Thursday, January 28, 2010

Travellers who like nothing more than to hit the course for a relaxing round of golf may find that Portugal is the perfect place for their next holiday.

Imaginative explorers have been encouraged by Vigia Group to head to its resort in the Algarve, which offers 18 holes on the picturesque Parque da Floresta, with views over the stunning surrounding countryside.

Additionally, it stated that golfers will have the sun on their backs all-year-round and have the chance to relax in the resort's bar, swimming pool or spa when taking time off from the greens.

Furthermore, those who are not that big on golf can lose themselves in the local culture.

"Surrounded by beautiful beaches, historical towns and the Costa Vicentina Nature Reserve, Vigia resorts in the western Algarve provide a truly spectacular holiday destination," the group stated.

Lonely Planet recommends visitors to the region to head to Monchique, Lagos and Tavira and to avoid the peak summer tourist season for a more tranquil experience.
