Imaginative explorers heading out on gap years or adventure holidays have been given a number of tips on how to stay safe on their trip and get the most out of the experience.
According to recent research by Into the Blue, 61 per cent of respondents want to travel around the world or to Australia, Europe or South America in the next ten years.
With demand so high for holidays to far-flung destinations, Cathy Goodyer, a spokesperson at Nomad, explained that there are a few things imaginative explorers can do to stay safe.
She said travellers need to make sure they have insurance before their trip and invest in a money belt.
However, they should not conspicuously get this out in public.
"You've got to keep your high risk stuff with you, like your passport and your money and split it up," she stated.
Ms Goodyer added that finding secure lockers in train stations could be a good idea too.
She stated: "You've just got to take simple precautions."
