The number of travellers heading to Singapore for a small group holiday or adventure trip could be set for a surge in 2010, following predictions by the region's official tourist board. According to the body, between 11.5 million and 12.5 million visitors are expected to visit the location over the course of the year due to a record-breaking January. In the first month of 2010, the number of holidaymakers entering Singapore saw an annual growth of 17.6 per cent, with seven per cent more arrivals coming from the UK, it revealed.

According to the region's official tourist board, there are a number of festivals and events taking place that could appeal to explorers heading out on a tour of south-east Asia. Shakespeare's classic play the Tempest - directed by Sam Mendes, who won an Oscar for American Beauty - is set to run from April 2nd to 10th as part of the Bridge Project, a partnership between the Old Vic, Brooklyn Academy of Music and Neal Street.
Imaginative travellers who want to get away this year might want to consider Thailand as a possible destination, following comments from ABTA - the Travel Association. Kuoni recently revealed that the country was one of the ten most popular long-haul destinations for holidaymakers this year, sitting at second in the list. Malaysia, Sri Lanka, Egypt, China, the Maldives, the US, the UAE and Singapore were also included in the rankings.
