Singapore holidays 'perfect for art lovers'

Friday, March 05, 2010

Imaginative travellers with a love for the arts could find that a small group holiday to Singapore is their ideal getaway.

According to the region's official tourist board, there are a number of festivals and events taking place that could appeal to explorers heading out on a tour of south-east Asia.

Shakespeare's classic play the Tempest - directed by Sam Mendes, who won an Oscar for American Beauty - is set to run from April 2nd to 10th as part of the Bridge Project, a partnership between the Old Vic, Brooklyn Academy of Music and Neal Street.

It will take place at Esplanade - Theatres on the Bay, which was officially opened in 2002, after touring the US and Europe.

Additionally, the Singapore Arts Festival is set to run from May 14th to June 13th, while travellers may also be interested in visiting the Singapore Sun Festival - "a celebration of music, film, visual arts, literature, cuisine, wine and wellness" - from October 29th to November 7th.
