British families on a budget who are keen to take a long-haul holidays in 2010 may do well to consider Thailand, especially as some airlines offering flights from the UK to Australia are also offering "very competitive" deals on trips to the Asian nation.
This is according to Travelmood managing director Rad Sofronijevic, who anticipated that it will be less expensive to travel to Thailand in 2009 than it will be in 2010.
He commented that the country is "very affordable", particularly if holidaymakers are willing to book early for the best airfare and hotel deals.
Teletext Holidays also recently tipped Thailand to be a hot destination for the coming year, especially among imaginative travellers seeking the best value for money.
Other travel trends identified by the group include a rise in popularity of cruises, as well as all-inclusive holidays.
Parents may also be more likely to take breaks without their children in an effort to save money.

Budget Travel in Thailand
Thailand certainly is one of the best value destinations for your holiday, but I have noticed that prices are on the rise. Maybe it's not by much, becuase it is so cheap there anyways, but since three years ago, I have noticed a change. It is especially in the south. I guess with all the luxury resorts that were built after the tsunami the prices have no choice but to go up. What I don't understand though, is that even if you are staying at a huge resort and most of the rooms are empty, the hotel won't really swing any amazing deals for you. I think the days of bartering in the south are coming to an end. Not anytime soon of course, I mean, you can still get discounts everywhere you go, just not as big of discounts as before. Thankfully prices in Bangkok, and northern Thailand seem to be the same, and deals are still very easy to come by.
