Bulgaria and Thailand are among the destinations that made it into the top ten honeymoon destinations list in a recent poll. They were among a number of countries which could be classed as non-traditional post-marriage getaways, indicating that newlyweds are increasingly opting for imaginative travel trips. Website Sunshine.co.uk conducted the research, which also had Morocco, Egypt and Japan holidays as top honeymoon choices. Traditional romantic locations such as Paris and Venice failed to make the list.
Imaginative travellers who have just tied the knot have been advised to make their honeymoon more of an adventure holiday. Metro News claims that the key to a successful honeymoon is being able to combine relaxation with other activities. "This is the one chance you get to really splash out on the holiday of a life¬time, so you want to take advantage of it and do something exceptional," the publication states. It also lists some of the destinations that imaginative travellers may like to consider for their post-wedding trip abroad.
Costa Rica is an ideal place for nature lovers and romantics, making it one of the best destinations for a honeymoon, according to a wedding writer. Jennifer Zambri-Dickerson of the Examiner noted that the country's rugged landscapes, picturesque mountains and rainforests provide the perfect backdrop for an active romantic getaway. Imaginative travellers will undoubtedly be keen to explore the Arenal Volcano or take a canopy tour of the Monteverde Cloud Forest Reserve - considered to be one of the country's top refuges for wildlife.
