British imaginative travellers who venture to destinations outside of Europe are better behaved and more cultured abroad, it has been revealed.
Jonathan Cudworth, head of product marketing at Expedia, said that because of the costs involved in getting to more exotic and faraway destinations, "Brits seem to make an effort to immerse themselves in the culture of the country they're visiting and in turn paint a better picture of themselves".
In a survey carried out by the company, Brits were named runners-up in the Best Tourist rankings worldwide.
British imaginative explorers were also lauded for their politeness by hoteliers and were also named most generous nationality of travellers.
A recent report published by Mintel revealed that family holidays were the second-most booked genre of travel - after couples' holidays - over the past five years.
It also found that solo travel had increased by five per cent over the same period.
