Bulgaria and Thailand are among the destinations that made it into the top ten honeymoon destinations list in a recent poll.
They were among a number of countries which could be classed as non-traditional post-marriage getaways, indicating that newlyweds are increasingly opting for imaginative travel trips.
Website Sunshine.co.uk conducted the research, which also had Morocco, Egypt and Japan holidays as top honeymoon choices.
Traditional romantic locations such as Paris and Venice failed to make the list.
Darren Noel, commercial director at wedding website Hitched, said that unique honeymoon destinations may be sought-after but it "is more to do with the ease of getting to them rather than a want to go to weird destinations".
He also explained that the current economic climate is prompting a number of newlyweds to take mini-moons - short, inexpensive trips straight after the wedding - and then saving for a larger holiday later down the line.
