Costa Rica is an ideal place for nature lovers and romantics, making it one of the best destinations for a honeymoon, according to a wedding writer.
Jennifer Zambri-Dickerson of the Examiner noted that the country's rugged landscapes, picturesque mountains and rainforests provide the perfect backdrop for an active romantic getaway.
Imaginative travellers will undoubtedly be keen to explore the Arenal Volcano or take a canopy tour of the Monteverde Cloud Forest Reserve - considered to be one of the country's top refuges for wildlife.
Ms Zambri-Dickerson also noted that a visit to the Tortuguero National Park to see the nesting places of sea turtles could be a great way to spend a day out, while adventurous couples may also wish to try diving in the reefs of Cahuita National Park or white water rafting on one of the many rivers on the island's Caribbean coast.
According to Lonely Planet, between December and April - also known as the dry season - is the best time to visit Costa Rica.
However, the guidebook notes it is important for holidaymakers to plan ahead if they plan to stay in a beach town between December and February, as this is when schools are closed.
