Imaginative travellers who are eco-friendly may be interested in visiting Australia, after the Global Ecotourism Conference finished yesterday (November 11th) at Red CeNTre Solar City in Australia.
Designed to bring together supporters of sustainable travel, the event acted as a platform to discuss developments that could be made in the industry to cater for the growing numbers of green travellers.
Alice Springs was chosen as the location for the conference due to its reputation as an eco-friendly town, where several initiatives are already in place, such as its solar-powered Crowne Plaza hotel.
Tourism NT environmental tourism development officer Natasha Smith added: "Tourists travelling to Alice Springs now have a fantastic opportunity to learn about solar technologies at the new, world class Desert Knowledge Solar Centre."
Funded by the Australian government's Remote Renewable Power Generation Rebate Programme, the $3.1 million (£1.7 million) Desert Knowledge Australia Solar Centre showcases full-size commercial solar technology, encouraging its adoption on a national scale.
