The Alpine resort of Val d'Isere is set to show off its appreciation of culture this month with a celebration of international cuisine, which may interest imaginative travellers with a love of food.
Although it is mostly known for hosting sporting events and being one of the most popular ski locations for adventure holidays, Val d'Isere will hold the Pistes Gourmandes 2010 festival from March 15th to 20th.
According to the resort, the event "aims to increase awareness of organic farming, fair trade and sustainable development as well as delighting foodies and their tastebuds".
Furthermore, the festival will give visitors the chance to get expert tips from top chefs such as Michael Roth and Guy Martin, take part in cookery workshops, taste wine, enter competitions and view spectacular ice sculptures.
Adventure travellers heading to the resort might also be interested in a range of activities available, such as horse riding, mountain biking, hiking, paragliding and white water rafting.
