Imaginative travellers who want to get away this year might want to consider Thailand as a possible destination, following comments from ABTA - the Travel Association.
Kuoni recently revealed that the country was one of the ten most popular long-haul destinations for holidaymakers this year, sitting at second in the list.
Malaysia, Sri Lanka, Egypt, China, the Maldives, the US, the UAE and Singapore were also included in the rankings.
And commenting on the findings, Frances Tuke, spokeswoman for ABTA - which was formed in 1950 by a number of leading holiday firms and represents over 6,000 travel agencies and 850 tour operators in the UK - stated that a possible reason for their popularity is their affordability.
"Thailand, Egypt, Sri Lanka, Malaysia all of those destinations are much cheaper when it comes to spending over there," she said.
She added that long-haul locations generally provide great holidays as the "quality [and] the price of living is cheaper".
