Turkey holidays and Egypt tours 'big for 2010'

Thursday, March 04, 2010

Travellers are expected to find Turkey and Egypt increasingly popular destinations for a holiday this year, On the Beach has suggested.

According to research from the firm, 63 per cent more people have booked a trip to Turkey, while sales of Egypt holidays have been boosted by 47 per cent.

In addition, the study found that holidaymakers are also planning on heading to Spain in 2010, with vacations to the Balearic Islands, Canary Islands and the country's Costa Blanca selling extremely well.

Commenting particularly on the apparent appeal of Turkey, Alistair Daly, marketing director at the company, said: "This year, we expected Turkey to be the most popular destination for holidaymakers once again. As a non-Euro country, it offers holidaymakers high quality, great value holidays."

A spokeswoman for ABTA - The Travel Association, which represents more than 6,000 travel agencies and 850 tour operators in the UK, recently advised that other affordable destinations include Thailand, Egypt, Sri Lanka, Malaysia.
