The best city in the world for travel and leisure is India's Udaipur, states a new survey.
It is the first time Udaipur has won the accolade, voted for by readers of Travel + Leisure magazine.
Winners from other categories include Bali, which regains its best island title from 2007.
Travel + Leisure's editor-in-chief Nancy Novogrod said: "This year's results reflect our readers' travel interests in this challenging economic reality - value, intimacy, service and discovery are key priorities
"For a number of top-ranked cities - Udaipur, Cape Town, Bangkok, Buenos Aires, Chiang Mai, and Luang Prabang - value ratings were sky-high," she added.
All the award-winners are to be honoured at a ceremony on July 21st at the Cooper Square Hotel in New York City.
Udaipur received an overall score of 87.94 per cent, narrowly beating Cape Town which took second place.
The Indian city did not feature at all in last year's top 20.
