Imaginative travellers offered advice on volunteering

Tuesday, September 29, 2009

People who are looking to embark on an imaginative travel experience have been offered some guidance.

According to YNet News, lion rehabilitation in South Africa, community support in Thailand or wildlife care in Australia may prove to be attractive propositions for those who want an adventure holiday but want to give something back as well.

Israel was also noted as a country where people can "incorporate volunteer work while going on holiday".

Many people from the UK opt to head off on this kind of adventure holiday each year.

One popular time to take such a trip is prior to starting university and there are thousands of teenagers who decide to have a gap year so they can experience this kind of vacation in between finishing A-levels and starting a degree.

Recent reports from various travel organisations suggest that older people are increasingly opting to go on gap years, often taking career breaks in order to do so.
