There is nothing that can compare to a South African sunset, according to one adventure holiday fan, who has just returned from volunteering in an animal shelter based in the country's Drakensburg Mountains.
Adrienne Frandsen explained to Kingston This Week that "words cannot do it justice" and neither can a small digital camera.
She also revealed that her experiences at Moholoholo Animal Rehabilitation Centre were equally rewarding and the group she travelled with has found it difficult to get back to reality after having such a wonderful time in South Africa.
Having volunteered her services with friends Annie and Julie Charbonneau, Ms Frandsen ended up involved in a wide range of tasks to help the local wildlife.
Since returning, they have missed the friends they made and "missed the beauty of South Africa and the close proximity of the animals".
The adventure holiday has also made her keen to volunteer elsewhere in the world, with Costa Rica a potential next destination.
When not volunteering in Costa Rica, adventure holiday fans have the chance to go diving, fishing and sailing in spectacular surroundings, and they can also take part in a whole host of other activities.
