Kind Heart Project - China

This project offers financial support for children from poor families in Yangshuo County to cover their school fees and essential equipment they may need such as computers.
With the help of our current donations of around £1000 there are 20 children regularly attending school who would otherwise be working. With further donations we can help even more children and begin to provide the schools with essential equipment they may need such as computers.

The fund was initiated by the owner of Yangshuo's White Lion Hotel, and is administered by Liang Qiong Feng, the current manager, who makes regular visits to the schools involved. During these visits she meets prospective students and their families at home, to determine the most deserving cases, and delivers any fees due at the start of each semester. This is done in a small, private meeting with each child receiving a red hong bao envelope in a traditional and dignified way. Each of the students makes a short speech, in English, to thank their benefactors. They are also encouraged to write a short thank you note - good practice for their schooling.
