Imaginative Traveller has added over 20 new trips to their 2013 family portfolio making the company one of the UK’s leading family adventure travel specialists.
Now offering over 30 adventurous trips of between 8 and 19 days across Asia, Africa, the Middle East, Central and South America, the 22 year old company say it’s seen a marked rise in demand for more off-the-beaten-track family adventures, hence significantly bolstering its trip range this year.
“It’s noticeable that families still want the security of an organised trip from a reputable company, but are becoming much more adventurous when it comes to the type of destinations they choose,” says Kate Hudson, Sales Manager.
According to Kate, the three most popular destinations in the 32-strong trip range are: Morocco, Turkey and Africa (South and East). “Parents with younger children generally prefer the shortest flight times from Europe, hence the perennial popularity of Morocco for example, available for children as young as 2 years, but once the kids are older, say from 8 years upwards, the more likely they are to consider long haul trips such as Cuba or Borneo,” she says.
Whatever the destination chosen, each trip has been designed to balance exciting activities with the optimum blend of free time / R&R, and all offer up-close and personal encounters with the people and places in each destination, such as homestays as diverse as a jungle camps to sleeping under the stars in the Sahara in traditional Bedouin tents.
As well as small group adventures, families can also choose from two best-selling overland trips; the 17 day East African Family Overland Adventure through Kenya and Tanzania and the 19 day Namibia and Botswana Family Overland, through Namibia, Botswana and Zimbabwe.
Transport can include anything from private air conditioned bus, cruise boat, plane, calesh, felucca, train, 4WD jeep, camel, specialised overland vehicle, ferry, catamaran, elephant, dugout canoe, ox-cart, bicycle, sky train, long-tail boat, sampan, cyclo, dragon boat or raft.
The majority of trips are for children aged 5 / 7 and above, although the 8 days ‘Magical Morocco‘ trip is for children aged 2 years and above, and trips are on a bed and breakfast basis. Hotel accommodation is on a twin share basis or family rooms where possible.
Specific departures cater for teens and single parents.
There is also a 5 % discount offered for family trips booked six months or longer in advance (excluding family overland adventures).
