You will stay in city centre locations to get you to the heart of the action, as you explore the stunning wonders of Northeastern USA. Hold on to your hats and keep your camera batteries charged!

New York Area & Finger Lakes

Departing the big city you make your way towards the Finger Lakes and we're pretty sure you're going to love it. Here you'll find an abundance of vineyards and award-winning wines, you won't know where to start. This is a great introduction to New York State and perfect first day of the tour.

Accommodation: Budget Lodging included

Niagara Falls & Toronto

First up today is the truly epic sight of Niagara Falls. Made up of three waterfalls this mighty natural wonder will blow you away at its sheer size and the noise it makes is pretty immense too. Take the optional Maid of the Mist cruise and prepare to get wet as you get a truly awesome perspective of the falls up close and personal. Then travel cross Rainbow Bridge and into Canada.

Toronto is where all the trendy people are at, with high-fashion stores and cosy cafes on College and Queen Streets, there is no shortage of cool places to hang out. View the city from above with a trip to the top of the CN Tower and gaze across the beautiful Lake Ontario. Toronto is the city that everyone wants to be seen in and you'll find an eclectic mix of cultures here, you may even spot a celeb or two as they can't get enough of this awesome city either.

Accommodation: Budget Lodging included

Expect a little European flair, as Montreal is the second largest French speaking city in the world (only beaten by Paris). Museums, galleries, eateries and clubs mix a cocktail of the best bits from both continents and we promise you you're definitely in for a good time here. Don't miss out on the "Underground City" including 30km devoted to all things retail, or an adventurous jet-boat ride on the river. Ever eaten your dinner in complete darkness? Well, now you can with a visit to O'Noir, a restaurant where you eat in the pitch black - make sure you don't wear your best clothes, it's sure to get messy.

Accommodation: Budget Lodging included

If 'Chunky Monkey' and the 'Vermonster' mean something to you, then you're going to love Stowe as we enjoy an included tour of the one and only Ben & Jerry's ice-cream factory. During the winter, this 'Ski Capital of the East' puts on an incredible winter spread, but remains a highlight during summer months with hiking, biking and swimming, this really is an adventure lover's playground.

Accommodation: Budget Lodging included

Head to Boston for a slice of history starting with a walk along the Freedom Trail and stop at some of America's historical hotspots. But Boston is not all about the history, we've laid on a trip to Harvard University to see the brains of America hard at work. A trip to Boston wouldn't be complete without a trip to the famous 'Cheers' bar for a cheeky beverage after a great first day in the states.

New York Area

You head back towards the 'City that never sleeps', New York. For a storybook ending to an incredible trip, we highly recommend adding on a night or two to explore this incredible city. There is so much to see and do here, from a trip to the top of the Empire State Building, to a shopping spree along Fifth Avenue, the opportunities are endless. If you really don't know where to begin why not take a city tour with Urban Adventures?

This tour ends at our gateway hotel at approximately 17:00 hrs. We can book you post-tour accommodation at our gateway hotel if required. If you are planning to fly tonight, please do not book a flight that departs before 21:00 hrs.

Our 22nd Dec departures will spend 2 extra nights in New York at the end of the trip, finishing on 1st January. The extra nights will be in a centrally located hostel and the group will use public transport. (Please note this departure is only available for passengers aged 21 and over).

This tour is operated by our partners Trek America.

visa1A necessary bugbear of adventure travel, visas can appear complicated, costly and confusing to apply for. Imaginative Traveller recommend applying for visas with a professional visa service who can guide you though the process and take care of lodging and collecting your passport with multiple embassies, so we have teamed up with The Visa Machine. The Visa Machine ‘live and breathe’ visas and have the expertise to provide current and accurate information and arrange the correct visas for your trip, quickly and at a good price. Please click here for more information.

medical-preparation1We strongly recommend you visit your doctor to discuss health requirements for your trip. They will advise you regarding the appropriate inoculations. In some places anti-malaria medication may also be required. Some vaccines need to be administered a few weeks before departure so allow yourself plenty of time. Obtain a certificate of vaccination and carry this with you on this trip. A dental check up is also highly recommended.

Money1Every traveller is different and therefore spending money requirements will vary. Some travellers may drink more than others while other travellers like to purchase more souvenirs than most. Please consider your own spending habits when it comes to allowing for drinks, shopping, participating in optional activities, and tipping. Please also remember the following specific recommendations when planning your trip.

You will need to take cash to cover all additional expenses not included in your tour cost. These include food, drinks, optional sightseeing, tips, laundry, souvenirs and possible delays. If in doubt, bring more than you think you will need. It is always useful to carry an additional amount for emergencies. If there is a medical emergency you are sometimes required to pay at the time; providing your claim falls within the scope of your policy, your insurance company will make reimbursement later

travel-insuranceYou must have extensive travel insurance as a condition of booking with us, and without evidence of a valid policy you won’t be allowed to start your trip. Please click here for more information.

responsible-travel1Responsible tourism is at the heart of Imaginative Traveller. For 20 years we have taken customers to places around the world in social and environmentally responsible manner, ensuring everyone involved respects and maintains the natural and often delicate balance of the destination. As travellers ourselves we are well aware of the impact that tourism can have and whilst economic gain from tourism is often fundamental to a country, it should never be at the expense of its culture or the environment. It is our aim to provide journeys that have minimal negative and maximum positive impact on the places we visit. We do not believe that, as visitors, we should impose our own cultures on others; rather that we should experience foreign cultures and appreciate them for what they are.We believe giving something back is essential. We therefore work with our customers and the people we visit to ensure the benefits go directly to contribute to local cultures and environmental conservation. This is not only good the communities we visit but it also gives our travellers more enriched adventures. For further information about responsible travel please click here.

At Imaginative Traveller we always aim to provide accurate information for our travellers. Unfortunately information such as the price of optional activities is occasionally subject to change, and this means that we are constantly revising our trip notes. In order to ensure that you have the most up to date information for your trip we suggest that you check the trip notes for your tour around one month before departure.
