Our Raw tours are best suited for those with a sense of adventure, are willing to step outside their comfort zone and don’t mind being thrown in at the deep end. For independent travellers who want to travel with others. Just the ticket for those aged between 18-35 or anyone young at heart who has an open mind, an eye on the budget and a nose for adventure. Authentic experiences that expand the mind rather than hold the hand.
This twist on the classic trek to Everest Base Camp, includes extra acclimatisation and the chance to see Everest at sunset for the ultimate photo shot. From the cultural sights of Kathmandu, you take the stomach-churning flight to Lukla, deep in the heart of the Khumbu Valley and launch point for the trek. Here, your porters will shoulder your luggage and all you have to do is put one foot in front the other as you meander up gentle ascents, down to riverside teahouses, over heart-stopping swing bridges, contouring steep valley sides, all along enjoying arguably the mos spectacular mountain scenery in the world. Taking a leisurely route to Gokyo, this 16 day trek allows optimum chance of reaching your goal. Crossing the jumbled terrain of Ngozumpa Glacier you reach the spectacular Gokyo Lakes area where, an early start sees you ascend Gokyo Peak (5,360m) for one of the best panoramas in Nepal with Everest, Cho Oyo, Lhotse and Makalu all on display. Trekking on to Base Camp itself, we spend two full days here (useful in inclement weather), ascending Kala Patar at sunset, giving you the best photos of Everest. With plenty of time to chat to the locals, visit community projects en route and generally enjoy the scenery, this is an excellent way of taking the ‘high road’ to Everest and climbing a 5,000m in as much comfort as possible!.
