Sa-wat dee! Welcome to Thailand.
You can arrive at any time as there are no planned activities for Day 1 in Phuket. We have an early start tomorrow morning so please check the hotel notice board for information about your transfer - which can change at short notice.
Thailand's largest and most well-known island, Phuket has some excellent beaches and a huge array of restaurants, hotels, bars and shopping to choose from. Our start hotel is close to the airport to make it convenient for those flying in directly to meet the trip.

Ranong/Myauk Ni Island
We meet our transfer guide in the hotel lobby at 7am for the transfer north from Phuket to Ranong [near to the border with Burma]. The drive is approx 5 hours. On arrival in Ranong we transfer to Sapanpla Immigration Pier where we exit Thailand and travel by long boat to board our yacht which will be moored offshore. Your Burmese visas will be processed on board the yacht by our Burmese Custom’s agent.
The beauty of sailing is that each day is unique and, while we have a destination to reach, if the weather changes or something takes the group’s fancy, we can be flexible on the day's itinerary.
Once our processing has taken place we’ll set sail for Myauk Ni Island. The isolated Myeik (Mergui) Archipelago embraces at least 800 islands, many deserted, making this a region for true explorers. The islands' limestone cliffs and dense rainforest interiors meet with vast mangrove stretches and truly untouched white sand beaches.
Underwater, the scenes are just as refreshing with a diversity of marine life and stunning coral reefs.
Explore the southern beach of Myauk Ni Island and maybe try sea kayaking, snorkelling or just marvel at the natural beauty of this incredibly remote part of the world.

Myeik (Mergui) Archipelago
Head north towards Palu Bada, a group of islands with great snorkelling. Drop anchor for the night in a protected bay and take a short jungle walk to the other side of the island.
Sailing a few hours north to Bo Cho island and get a taste of village life. Ma Kyone Galet is the largest island village in the southern Mergui archipelago and a local community of Moken or 'sea gypsies'. Once a permanent nomadic, seafaring people, the Moken spent almost all their time floating on small wooden boats and diving for shellfish. Like many ethnic minorities in Burma, most Moken were forced to relocate to onshore sites during the 1990s.
We then set sail for Lampi Island a beautiful long white sand beach where we can kayak up a river through mangroves.
Set sail today to Swinton Island, arguably one of the most beautiful beaches in the archipelago. This is a top spot for snorkelling and tonight we can relax, swap travel tales and enjoy the days catch around a campfire on the beach.
Sail today to Kho Yinn Khwa Island (Maclead Island) and be dazzled again by its picture perfect beach. One of the larger islands and home to a small resort we can take a guided hike for a fabulous view across the islands (1.5 hours), The climb is steep and challenging so please bring suitable footwear for this hike (no sandals or flip flops). Tonight, take a break from eating on board with dinner and drinks at the island's resort or perhaps enjoy a traditional Burmese massage (not included).
Sail east to Thay Yae island, and it's picture perfect, long and isolated beach. Why not kayak or snorkel in the surrounding turquoise waters? We anchor on a nearby island so settle in for one more incredible sunset and a relaxing final night aboard.
Accommodation: Overnight boat (5 nts)
Leaving very early we sail back to Ranong.
We say goodbye to your skipper and cook and travel with our guide by long tail boat and reenter Thailand at Ranong. From here transfer by vehicle back to Phuket. Travellers will be unaccompanied for this leg of the journey. We hope to be back in Phuket by 6pm.
Accommodation: Hotel (1 nt)

We strongly recommend you visit your doctor to discuss health requirements for your trip. They will advise you regarding the appropriate inoculations. In some places anti-malaria medication may also be required. Some vaccines need to be administered a few weeks before departure so allow yourself plenty of time. Obtain a certificate of vaccination and carry this with you on this trip. A dental check up is also highly recommended.
Every traveller is different and therefore spending money requirements will vary. Some travellers may drink more than others while other travellers like to purchase more souvenirs than most. Please consider your own spending habits when it comes to allowing for drinks, shopping, participating in optional activities, and tipping. Please also remember the following specific recommendations when planning your trip.
You will need to take cash to cover all additional expenses not included in your tour cost. These include food, drinks, optional sightseeing, tips, laundry, souvenirs and possible delays. If in doubt, bring more than you think you will need. It is always useful to carry an additional amount for emergencies. If there is a medical emergency you are sometimes required to pay at the time; providing your claim falls within the scope of your policy, your insurance company will make reimbursement later.
You must have extensive travel insurance as a condition of booking with us, and without evidence of a valid policy you won’t be allowed to start your trip. Please click here for more information.
Responsible tourism is at the heart of Imaginative Traveller. For 20 years we have taken customers to places around the world in social and environmentally responsible manner, ensuring everyone involved respects and maintains the natural and often delicate balance of the destination.
As travellers ourselves we are well aware of the impact that tourism can have and whilst economic gain from tourism is often fundamental to a country, it should never be at the expense of its culture or the environment. It is our aim to provide journeys that have minimal negative and maximum positive impact on the places we visit. We do not believe that, as visitors, we should impose our own cultures on others; rather that we should experience foreign cultures and appreciate them for what they are.
We believe giving something back is essential. We therefore work with our customers and the people we visit to ensure the benefits go directly to contribute to local cultures and environmental conservation. This is not only good the communities we visit but it also gives our travellers more enriched adventures.

Warning - this is a new trip for us!
While we have thoroughly researched this area to put together this trip, it still must be remembered that this is a relatively new trip for us. To be frank, we expect some things to go wrong. When we head to new destinations, we usually find there are more pleasant surprises in store than unpleasant ones, but the warning is sincere. If it concerns you then we recommend that you wait for a year until we get any bugs ironed out.
Please provide full passport details at time of booking including exact name as per passport, date of birth, nationality, issue and expiry dates as these are essential for booking services on this trip.
Dietary requirements are required at the time of booking so that any included meals can be properly catered for.
ADDITIONAL NATIONAL PARK FEE
All travellers must pay an additional US$20 a day Mergui Archipelago park fee. Please allow approximately US$200 (which should cover any unforeseen increases.)
