This 5,897m high colossus is one of the highest active volcanoes in the world, and its altitude and beautiful cone shape has attracted countless mountaineers. Although Cotopaxi has few technically challenging climbs, it does require a certain amount of physical fitness, and is a great experience very much worth the effort. Once you have reached the highest point of the crater rim, the views are truly spectacular.
