Journey from Lima to Cusco and on to Lake Titicaca – birthplace of the Inca legend
Peru has long captured the imagination of adventure travellers from all over the world. From Lima we fly to Cusco – the imperial Inca capital. We visit the Sacred Valley before setting off on a camping trek following old Inca pathways. Our destination is the magnificent mountain-top ruins of Machu Picchu. A spectacular bus journey then takes us across the barren, windswept plains of the Altiplano to sparkling Lake Titicaca, offering a complete contrast to the bustling human activity witnessed in Cusco.
Inca Heartland
Here, we stay with a local family on one of the islands and enjoy a unique insight into the life of the local indigenous people. Our final excursion takes us to the ancient burial chambers at Sillustani, before we catch our flight back to Lima.

Trip Itinerary
- Day 1-2(Mon) Arrive in Lima and transfer to hotel. Tour of colonial centre.
- Day 3-4Morning flight to Cusco. Walking city tour. Visit the Sacred Valley and the market town of Pisac.
- Day 5-8Camping trek along ancient Inca trails to Machu Picchu, a highlight of the Andes. Bus to Aguas Calientes and afternoon train to Cusco.
- Day 9Free day in Cusco with time for optional activities.
- Day 10Drive to Puno on the shores of Lake Titicaca.
- Day 11-12Boat excursion and overnight island family home stay. Return to Puno.
- Day 13Visit burial chambers at Sillustani. Late afternoon return to Lima (Sat).
