This trip is an overland trip run in an overland truck. In addition to paying for your trip, you're require to make a separate payment to your tour leader at the start of the trip, usually in USD. Kitties are flexible and change as prices are updated. Therefore you should check the latest kitty amount on this website before you depart.
A kitty is a group fund which covers all accommodation, meals while camping (not in hotels) and activities listed as included. It's a system unique to overlanding to provide the maximum flexibility and best value on the road (you get everything at cost price!). The kitty is your money, not ours, so any amount left over is divided among the group as a refund.

Kathmandu<- ->Xi'an
This is a journey across the ‘Roof of the World’, where you’ll cross high mountain passes – up to 5000m, the highest plateau in the world, encounter an area infused with Tibetan culture before ending in China ‘proper’, with the Terracotta Warriors of Xi’an. Starting in Kathmandu en route for Tibet, you’ll thread your way through the Himalayas. Truly, is there any better scenery on earth, we wonder? You’ll see prayer flags snapping in the wind, visit monasteries with burgundy robed monks and witness a way of life unchanged for centuries. After arriving in Lhasa, the capital of Tibet, you’ll see the Potala Palace and have plenty of free time to explore this magical city before heading out on a superb overland route, across the almost lunar landscape of the Tibetan Plateau and arriving in Golmud. The journey continues on to Qinghai Lake and the giant Buddha at Bingling Si before ending this rigorous and challenging trip with a luxurious hotel in Xi’an. Definitely a trip for landscape and culture lovers!
