DZRS Kitty Details

This trip is an overland trip run in an overland truck. In addition to paying for your trip, you're require to make a separate payment to your tour leader at the start of the trip, usually in USD. Kitties are flexible and change as prices are updated. Therefore you should check the latest kitty amount on this website before you depart.

A kitty is a group fund which covers all accommodation, meals while camping (not in hotels) and activities listed as included. It's a system unique to overlanding to provide the maximum flexibility and best value on the road (you get everything at cost price!). The kitty is your money, not ours, so any amount left over is divided among the group as a refund.

Rio de Janeiro<- ->Salvador

If you want an inland adventure that takes you into the very heart of Brazil, then this unusual and totally unique trip is a must-do. Starting in Rio de Janeiro, home to the world’s biggest and best carnival, you’ll head inland to the colonial city of Ouro Preto – quite a contrast to the next destination, the futuristic capital city of Brasilia, which amazingly, few tourists ever get to visit. You’ll then head eastwards to explore some of Brazil’s finest national parks filled with incredible landscapes, jaw-dropping waterfalls and the largest cave system in South America. You’ll also get to visit the Kalunga community, descendents of runaway slaves, in Cavalcante. The journey ends in a city which is steeped in history and located on beautiful Atlantic Ocean beaches, Salvador da Bahia. It’s worth noting that because this trip is far from the beaten track that accommodation is mainly camping based.
