Botswana

Home to a variety of cultures, perhaps most famously the San tribe, Botswana is also one of the finest safari destinations in Africa to visit with Imaginative Traveller. The wildlife is as diverse as the landscape with over 1000 types of birds and 85 species of mammals residing here. A boat trip in Chobe National Park is one of the best places to observe elephants in the region.

The Kalahari Desert covers most of Botswana, whilst in the east you will find the vast salt pans of Makgadikgadi. With very little rainfall, these areas are the perfect place to spot some of Botswana's iconic wildlife. Another of Botswana's endless highlights is the spectacularly scenic Okavango Delta  - a trip in the local 'mokoros' to wild camp on the delta's islands is one of the most magical experiences in Africa!
