Lithuania

The beautiful small republic of Lithuania is a proud nation with a fascinating and long history to discover with Imaginative Traveller. Lithuania was the first republic to declare independence from the Soviet Union in 1990, and has been rebuilding its national identity since.

Its capital Vilnius, displays a diverse array of architectural styles from Gothic to Renaissance, whilst the Lithuanian countryside is peppered with castles and forests.

Amongst its excellent natural highlights is the majestic Aukstaitija National Park where you can kayak across pristine lakes and try a traditional sauna. The Curonian Spit National Park on the Baltic coast features endless sand dunes and stunning beaches.
