Venezuela is a rarely-visited part of South America but contains some of the continent's best natural highlights. Perhaps the most spectacular scenery is to be found in the south in the 'Great Savanna' region, an unusual landscape full of rivers, dry plains and flat 'table-top' mountains.
Venezuela's main highlight is the famous Angel Falls, the highest waterfall in the world at 979 metres! Equally spectacular is the other-worldly Mount Roraima in the far southeast, an incredibly flat-topped and angular mountain that is one of the oldest geological formations on Earth and one of the best treks in South America.
