Trekking Mount Lebanon

Your Tailormade adventure

9 days from £2095 per person based upon twin share

This unique one week trekking tour will take you to a place that very few visitors to Lebanon ever experience. Hiding in plain sight, shrouded by political unrest and pushed aside by cultural preference, hiking to the top of Lebanon’s highest point (3,088m), you are more likely to pass a Bedouin camp with grazing ponies and sheep than a fellow traveller.  Many mountains dwarf Qornet es-Sawda in size, but few can offer the experience of ascending such beautiful, untrodden terrain. The scenery along the way is spectacular. Expansive desert stretching to all sides is something to behold, especially the sharp juxtaposition of dry rocky soil and permanent snow fields classified as “alpine tundra.” Along the way, there is time to explore the incredibly well-preserved Roman ruins at Baalbek, discover the early Maronite troglodyte monasteries in the Qadisha Valley, wander the bustling souks of Tripoli and soak up the atmosphere in beautiful Byblos. Lebanon is also highly regarded for its delicious food, influenced by Turkish, Arab and Mediterranean cuisine, and there will be ample opportunity to sample the numerous specialities of the Levant and some of the remarkable wines produced in Lebanon, a result of 5000 years of viticulture.
