Salmon Taco Food Recipe

Step up to the hot-plate and try your hand at one of our favourite cuisines, Mexican. Staying away from the classic chili-con-carne and nachos, why not give some Mexican street food a go?

The taco is a classic street food example as it is quick and easy to make, satisfies those hunger pangs and you can just use your hands to eat it…no sitting down and no knife and fork required.


Some simple smoky salmon tacos…



1tsp garlic salt

2 tbsp smoked paprika

pinch of sugar

500g salmon fillets

200ml yogurt

1 tbsp chipotle paste or hot chilli sauce

juice 1 lime

8 small soft flour tortillas

¼ green cabbage – finely sliced

small bunch of coriander

small jalapeno chilli

lime wedges

Mix the garlic, paprika and sugar together and spread onto the salmon flesh and then grill for 7-8 mins, ensuring the salmon is cooked through. Once cooked leave to the side to cool slightly.

Mix the yogurt, chipotle paste and lime juice with a bit of salt and pepper.

Remove the salmon skin (if any) and flake into large chunks.

Warm the tortillas and then serve with the yogurt, cabbage, coriander, chilli and lime and salmon and then tuck in!

corn salsa

You can also make a simple corn salsa as an accompaniment - just take a can of sweetcorn, warm through the corn in a frying pan until the kernels are slightly browned and then place in a mixing bowl with 3 finely chopped tomatoes, some chopped coriander and spring onions. Drizzle on some olive oil and the juice of a couple of limes, then tuck in!
