Welcome to Delhi, the capital city of India. On arrival, you will be received at the airport and transferred to your hotel.
Delhi is a city that bridges two different worlds. Old Delhi, once the capital of Islamic India, is a labyrinth of narrow lanes dotted with crumbling havelis and formidable mosques. In contrast, the imperial city of New Delhi created by the British Raj is composed of spacious, tree-lined avenues and imposing government buildings.
This morning, meet with your guide at the hotel to begin your exploration of this unique city. First, immerse yourself in the history and heritage of Old Delhi on a walking tour through the market lanes of the Chandni Chowk. Enjoy a short rickshaw ride through the chaotic streets, then visit Jama Masjid, one the largest mosques in India. Later, visit the astonishing Raj Ghat, the cremation site of Mahatma Gandhi.
Continuing on to New Delhi, visit the Qutub Minar, a fine example of Indo-Islamic architecture. Proceed to Humayun's Tomb, then stop for a photo at the renowned war memorial, India Gate. At the end of a full day of sightseeing, you will be returned to your hotel.
After breakfast this morning, check out of your hotel and meet with your driver to begin your journey on to Agra. (Drive time approx 4.5hrs)
On arrival in Agra later today, proceed for an evening visit of the remarkable Taj Mahal. Built by the Mughal Emperor Shah Jehan, this beautiful mausoleum is built entirely of pure white marble and is an architectural marvel. The building is dedicated to the memory of Shah Jehan's beloved queen Mumtaz Mahal. It was originally conceived as a garden tomb, with the mausoleum rising at the far end of the complex with the River Yamuna flowing below. Beneath the dome you will find the cenotaphs of Mumtaz Mahal and Shah Jahan.
You may wish to rise early this morning and beat the crowds with a sunrise visit to the magnificent Taj Mahal. This is arguably the best time of day to visit the monument. Return to your hotel for breakfast after your visit.
Later today, visit the formidable Agra Fort. Built by Emperor Akbar between 1565-1573, the fort is composed of a maze of courtyards, mosques and private chambers. Many of the buildings originally constructed were destroyed and eventually replaced by Akbar's grandson, Shah Jehan.
Continue on to Itmad ud Daulah, otherwise known as the 'Baby Taj'. This tomb actually predates the Taj, although it shares a number of stylistic features, suhc as the use of white marble and the prominent use of inlaid marble to create floral and geometric designs.
Return to your hotel after a day of sightseeing.
Early this morning, check out of your hotel and transfer to the railway station to board the day train to Jhansi. (0802/1045)
On arrival in Jhansi, meet with your driver and proceed to Khajuarho, a site of UNESCO significance renowned for its collection of magnificent temples and sculptural erotica constructed between 950 AD and 1050 AD. (Drive time approx 2hrs) The Khajuraho Group of Monuments consist of several Hindu, Buddhist and Jain temples that have been drawing tourists to Madya Pradesh for years, due to their nagara style architectural symbolism and remarkable erotic carvings.
After arriving in Khajuraho, proceed to your hotel for check in.
After breakfast at the hotel, visit the Western Temple complex of the Khajuarho group of monuments. The Kandariya Mahadeva dedicated to Lord Shiva is notable as the largest temple in Khajuraho. Discover the Lakshmana Temple, dedicated to Lord Vishnu and other major temples including Devi Jagdamba, Chitragupta and Chaunsath Jogini.
This afternoon, leave Khajuraho behind you and drive on to Bandhavgarh National Park (Drive time approx 5hrs)

The park is popular for its thriving population of the Royal Bengal Tiger, so keep your eyes peeled! A whole host of other wildilfe can also be found here, including sambar, deer, wild boar, leopard and sloth bears. Bandhavgarh is also renowned as a location due to its mythological significance. The name appears in the epic Ramayana. According to legend, Lord Rama stayed here for a brief period on his return home, having defeated Ravana. To this day you can explore Bandhvgarh Fort, originally constructed for Lord Rama by two of his monkey architects. It went on to become the private property of the Maharajas of Rewas. Inscriptions dating back to 300AD can still be found of the walls of the fort today.
Enjoy another full day of morning and afternoon game drives within Bandhavgarh National Park.
Leave Bandhavgarh National Park this morning and make tracks south to the vast grasslands and forests of Kanha National Park. This Tiger Reserve is one of the great National Parks within the state of Madhya Pradesh, and is home to jackals, wild pigs and of course, tigers. The elevated plateau of Bamhnidadar also supports several different species of birds of prey. Animals often gather at the popular watering holes of Sondar Tank and Babathenga Tank.
