Itinerary & Notes
Ahlan wa sahlan! Welcome to Jordan’s capital, Amman – cosmopolitan and contemporary, yet steeped in biblical history. Your adventure begins with an important welcome meeting at 6 pm this evening. As you don’t spend too much time here, it's worth arriving a day or two early to explore the sights. If you do have time, be sure to head to the citadel, taking in its amazing sweeping views of Amman. The Jordan Museum (home to the Dead Sea Scrolls) and the Roman Theatre are both well worth visiting. After your meeting, head out with your new-found travel pals, and perhaps pick up a coffee from one of the cafes and partner it with an ara’yes – a local-style toastie filled with spiced meat.

Our guide in Jordan was spectacular. The accommodations for the most part were agreeable. Our guide was very sociable and conscious of our needs. He was also flexible with our requests and tried to give us options for activities to choose from and ensured that everyone was happy and was able to engage in their desired activity. I feel that I saw everything in Jordan that was worthwhile to see. The country is beautiful and the people are lovely.
Our transfer across the border was smooth and timely. Our guide escorted us to the Jordanian border to ensure that our exit was processed promptly and that we got onto our shuttle to the Israeli side.
Our driver was waiting for us after we got through Israeli customs and immigration. Driven directly to our hotel and then our new guide promptly met us at 6pm.
The next 7 days were jam-packed with places to visit - it was almost too much because now as I look back it all is a big blurr. Our hotel room in Jerusalem was not good. It was so small that two people could barely move in it. I had no space to put my suitcase and manoevering in the room was so tight that i kept bumping my legs into the bed frame and I had bruises all over my calves.
I was disappointed that I could not hike the trail up to the top of Masada due to time constraints.
Our guide was a disappointment to everyone in our group. We felt that he did not care about what we wanted, liked/disliked and paid no heed to our concerns or requests; he just seemed to feel that he had an itinerary that he was required to complete and rushed us through from one activity to another.
I personally felt that he perceived himself as superior to all of us.
He was following Ramadan which we also felt impaired his level of attention towards us.
He also came across, in my opinion, as very biased against Israel and consistently made reference to the plights of the Palestinian people due to Israeli actions. This was politically slanted. This tour should not be politically slanted.
Our Israeli guide that led us for a half day remained ‘on the fence’ and neutral at all times and did not make reference to the political situation at any time.

All in all it was an informative 14 days.
