Walking the Amalfi Coast

From £879 for 8 days
Trip Overview
The Amalfi Coast is one of the most dramatic coastlines in Europe. Mountains jut steeply out of the Mediterranean and picturesque towns nestled in the coves below. Walking the ancient hillsides studded with lemon groves and framed by deep gorges, we descend from the Agerola Plain to the quaint towns of Positano, Ravello and of course Amalfi itself. No visit to the Bay of Naples would be complete without a trip to see the remains of Pompeii under the imposing volcanic cone of Mount Vesuvius. The best is saved till last with arguably the world's best coastal walk: the 'Walk of the Gods'. Away from the trails we partake in a favourite traditional pastime and sample incredible food and wine just like the Italians do. *Why with Exodus? * The perfect combination of idyllic coastal views, heritage sites and picturesque towns make the Amalfi Coast our most popular destination for walking. We have been operating this trip for over 15 years, using the comfortable Hotel Due Torri run by the friendly Acampora family who offer genuine Italian hospitality and ensure everyone has a wonderful stay.

Itinerary & Notes
Those on group flights fly to Naples, where they will be met by their tour leader on arrival. A transfer of approximately 1 hour 20 minutes takes us to the Hotel Due Torri, our base for the week in the village of Bomerano, on the Agerola plains above the Amalfi Coast. Enjoy a warm welcome from our local hosts, the Acampora family, before settling in. Land only clients can arrive at any time, although we do recommend to join the group at the airport as public transport options to the hotel are limited.

Excellent walking, fantastic views. A very well organised trip in a lovely friendly hotel. Our guide Vania was wonderful, friendly, enthusiatic and with a great sense of humour, a most enjoyable holiday.Thankyou to the rest of our group and Vania for being great company and making this such a special holiday.
The hotel, food, scenery, walks and especially our guide (Vania De Paoli) superb in every way.
This trip is excellent and I could not recommend it more highly. Breathtaking scenery, excellent accommodation in a beautiful family-run hotel and some of the very best Italian food you will ever eat. Our guide (Vania) was fantastic, enthusiastic, efficient and full of good recommendations. The walks are not too strenuous if you are reasonably fit, but be prepared for some short but steep ascents and longer descents, with a lot of steps/stairs on some routes. Good footwear and walking poles recommended.
Very well organised, lovely friendly hotel. Our representative, Vania, was a a delight and nothing was too much trouble.
A wonderful week, great guide. Itinerary was great, and very comfortable accommodation. Be prepared for steps and inclines I think one day was 3000 steps, but everybody made it !! Visits to Pompeii and Herculaneum were really good.
Initially thought that as we had a large group...max size at 16 people, that it would be too many people having previously been with group sizes of 7-8. My ‘fears’ were unfounded as the group got on very well and during walks the group kept up with one another and paced to suit slower individuals. Hotel was excellent in Bomanero which was a small town with a small selection of shops and restaurants. Walks were varied and offered excellent views of the coast and short stops in small towns on a couple of the walks. Amalfi was not too busy in November but think it would be very busy and possibly too busy in the high season as would Ravello and Positano
A wonderful week with lovely group, excellent and friendly guide, and fantastic weather! Brilliantly put together itinerary, and comfortable accomodation. Be aware that the distance on the walks does'nt indicate the undulations! Be prepared for steps and inclines! Worth it for the incredible views!
If you think it's just a walking trip then you're in for a pleasant surprise. There are a good variety of walks (although there a lot of downhill steps, so you should do some preparation for this otherwise your knees will complain !) ... but you also get cookery lessons, trips to Vesuvius & Pompeii, and optional trips to Capri/Herculaneum, plus a bit of exploratory time at the end of the walks. The days are full, with early starts on a couple of the days. The food at the hotel is great. All in all, thoroughly recommended.
A well organised and enjoyable trip. Just the right balance of walking and sight seeing. An excellent hotel with good food and drink.
I've been on a number of group holidays and this one rates as one of the most enjoyable to date. Great people, a fabulous leader in Serverio, who couldn't do enough for us, great food and marvellous weather. Who could ask for more?
Gorgeous bit of coastline. Great walking country. Good hotel and food. Congenial group. Smooth arrangements. Weather a bit disappointing. Excellent tour guide - Tony.
Truly memorable! One of the best group trips I have experienced as a result of an enthusiastic and knowledgeable guide, the amazing natural scenery, history and culture we experienced and the wonderful Due Torri hotel - and food! The other members of the group were all great fun and it was a joy to walk with them and swap tales over dinner in the evenings.
The variety of experiences, from steep climbs down steps hewn into the hillsides to walking the rim of Vesuvius or marvelling at the mosaics of Herculaneum, made this a memorable trip. Our group, christened 'the joyful' by our leader, contained an assortment of Britons (including Scots), a couple from Sydney and another pair from California. We all enjoyed each other's company, avoiding the clique-forming which can occur within a group, and all choosing to eat out in a restaurant together on our day off. The hotel staff at Due Torri were attentive, friendly and helpful and the food was excellent.
I think people should be warned more about how strenuous the walks are if people are not fit... the trip is rated as moderate fitness, but moderate to a young fit person is not the same as someone older or not as fit. All participants should be advised that they MUST where appropriate walking boots to improve grip on unpredictable ground.
This holiday exceeded my expectations. The walks were stunning and our guide Severio's knowledge and insight into the region made for an action-packed, superb holiday. Sharing this holiday with a sociable group fondly referred to as the Walking talking heads made the holiday complete.
This was an enjoyable tour, with 2 great guides. Saverio leading and Tony assisting. We felt in capable hands the whole time.
Fantastic walks, amazing scenery, and good food. Severio, our guide, was knowledgeable, interesting, and entertaining. I was very happy with my accommodation, but some in the group were disappointed with their hotel, which was some distance away and not of the same standard. On a minor note, I wished we could have had some of our dinners at local restaurants - for variety and because I found the hotel restaurant too noisy - it was like being in a school dining hall. Overall, a very enjoyable holiday which has left me with some great memories.
