Walking the Amalfi Coast

From £1249 for 8 days
Trip Overview
The Amalfi Coast is one of the most dramatic coastlines in Europe. Mountains jut steeply out of the Mediterranean and picturesque towns nestled in the coves below. Walking the ancient hillsides studded with lemon groves and framed by deep gorges, we descend from the Agerola Plain to the quaint towns of Positano, Ravello and of course Amalfi itself. No visit to the Bay of Naples would be complete without a trip to see the remains of Pompeii under the imposing volcanic cone of Mount Vesuvius. The best is saved till last with arguably the world's best coastal walk: the 'Walk of the Gods'. Away from the trails we partake in a favourite traditional pastime and sample incredible food and wine just like the Italians do. *Why with Exodus? * The perfect combination of idyllic coastal views, heritage sites and picturesque towns make the Amalfi Coast our most popular destination for walking. We have been operating this trip for over 15 years, using the comfortable Hotel Due Torri run by the friendly Acampora family who offer genuine Italian hospitality and ensure everyone has a wonderful stay.

Itinerary & Notes
Those on group flights fly to Naples, where they will be met by their tour leader on arrival. A transfer of approximately 1 hour 20 minutes takes us to the Hotel Due Torri, our base for the week in the village of Bomerano, on the Agerola plains above the Amalfi Coast. Enjoy a warm welcome from our local hosts, the Acampora family, before settling in. Land only clients can arrive at any time, although we do recommend to join the group at the airport as public transport options to the hotel are limited.

Fantastic walks, amazing scenery, and good food. Severio, our guide, was knowledgeable, interesting, and entertaining. I was very happy with my accommodation, but some in the group were disappointed with their hotel, which was some distance away and not of the same standard. On a minor note, I wished we could have had some of our dinners at local restaurants - for variety and because I found the hotel restaurant too noisy - it was like being in a school dining hall. Overall, a very enjoyable holiday which has left me with some great memories.
This holiday exceeded my expectations. The walks were stunning and our guide Severio's knowledge and insight into the region made for an action-packed, superb holiday. Sharing this holiday with a sociable group fondly referred to as the Walking talking heads made the holiday complete.
This was an enjoyable tour, with 2 great guides. Saverio leading and Tony assisting. We felt in capable hands the whole time.
Gorgeous bit of coastline. Great walking country. Good hotel and food. Congenial group. Smooth arrangements. Weather a bit disappointing. Excellent tour guide - Tony.
Truly memorable! One of the best group trips I have experienced as a result of an enthusiastic and knowledgeable guide, the amazing natural scenery, history and culture we experienced and the wonderful Due Torri hotel - and food! The other members of the group were all great fun and it was a joy to walk with them and swap tales over dinner in the evenings.
The variety of experiences, from steep climbs down steps hewn into the hillsides to walking the rim of Vesuvius or marvelling at the mosaics of Herculaneum, made this a memorable trip. Our group, christened 'the joyful' by our leader, contained an assortment of Britons (including Scots), a couple from Sydney and another pair from California. We all enjoyed each other's company, avoiding the clique-forming which can occur within a group, and all choosing to eat out in a restaurant together on our day off. The hotel staff at Due Torri were attentive, friendly and helpful and the food was excellent.
I think people should be warned more about how strenuous the walks are if people are not fit... the trip is rated as moderate fitness, but moderate to a young fit person is not the same as someone older or not as fit. All participants should be advised that they MUST where appropriate walking boots to improve grip on unpredictable ground.
I've been on a number of group holidays and this one rates as one of the most enjoyable to date. Great people, a fabulous leader in Serverio, who couldn't do enough for us, great food and marvellous weather. Who could ask for more?
Excellent walking, fantastic views. A very well organised trip in a lovely friendly hotel. Our guide Vania was wonderful, friendly, enthusiatic and with a great sense of humour, a most enjoyable holiday.Thankyou to the rest of our group and Vania for being great company and making this such a special holiday.
The hotel, food, scenery, walks and especially our guide (Vania De Paoli) superb in every way.
Was a Fantastic Walking Trip have been wanting to do this tour for 2 years and it didn't disappoint at all The walks were Amazing and the views breathtaking .Hotel was excellent food was superb .
A full on week, fabulous views, busy roads, lemons and more lemons and fabulous Italian food. I have been on many Exodus walking trips and this felt the most like a package holiday but necessarily so because of the numbers of people who want to visit the Amalfi Coast. Not a get away from it all holiday but embrace the vibrancy of an Italian Amalfi Destination.
Having done this trip before I knew what to expect but it was even better second time around. The walks were spectacular, the weather fantastic and the guide made every bit of the trip memorable.
This is a popular hiking trip, and deservedly so. The views every day were wonderful - you'd be hard pressed to enjoy this area to the same extent traveling on your own; having a tour made it so easy to have the paths charted out for us each day, and transport back to the hotel after a tough day's hiking. Each day brought an exploration of a little bit of a different area. It is rated as a "2" i think, pretty easy, but it was not very easy due to the extreme heat (up to 40C on one day, and well over 35 on every day) and humidity, on steep and rough paths. I'd say it is more like a 3 (I am an over 60 yr old woman in good condition). It is a small (about 15 people) tour so the logistics are manageable, and the group was delightful. Food at the Hotel Due Torri was fine. Only negative: the rooms are haphazard: you might or might not get a good one. Don't pay for the "superior" room - just a jacuzzi tub in a garret, with a sloping roof, can't stand up in half the room.
This is a well planned walking week on a beautiful (and steep) part of the Italian coast. Centred in Bomerano, a small town ideally situated - several of the walks start from the hotel - be warned they nearly all involve some steps (mostly downwards). The paths go through beautiful countryside with lemon groves, vineyards and spectacular views down to the sea. A day trip to walk the rim of Vesuvius and visit Pompei was very memorable. The hotel Due Torri was very comfortable and the staff all very friendly and helpful - very sensitive to some of the groups food intolerances or allergies.
Walking and trekking the Amalfi Coast.
I’ve read the majority of the other reviews which cover everything I’d also want to say. It’s honestly a fabulous trip and you definitely won’t be disappointed. Loved it! If you’re going outside of July and August, I’d suggest taking some warm clothes/fleece with you as it gets cold at night. I’d also suggest an extension to your trip for 2-3 nights if you’ve time, to just relax on the beach or to stroll around a resort or even Naples afterwards, as there’s little rest and relaxation time throughout the week. The staff at the hotel are lovely - so genuinely warm and welcoming. The village where you stay is quiet yet a charming and authentic place. & the tour leader Stefano made a huge effort to interact with and to get to know everyone individually.
Amazing trip walking the Amalfi Coast. Lovely group of people with a fabulous guide who made every day fun.
Excellent first trip with Exodus. Fabulous walks, inspirational scenery and brilliant company. Thoroughly enjoyed every moment.
Wonderful holiday! Everything was well organised, comfortable accommodation, delicious food, good company and of course stunning landscape. Thank you to our excellent guide Stefano, you made the excursions fun and stress- free for us. Am just sorry it is over.
We could not have wished for a better holiday. The guide, Stephano, was ideal for our group. He was patient, humorous and concerned for our wellbeing. He also arrange for our weather to be fantastic for the week. The walks had that Goldilocks aspect to them, not too hard yet not too easy. And what fantastic scenery and food. The hotel staff were excellent and made us all feel welcome.
Our guide, Louise Russell, was absolutely amazing and made sure that everything was always running smooth. Hubby and I only brought running shoes instead of proper hiking boots and to do it again, we would bring light hiking boots that have ankle support. I accidentally fell on the first hike (totally my fault... Looked back while still walking and rolled my ankle) and ended up spraining my ankle. Louise was fabulous in providing first aid and giving me options to meet the group at different locations the following days. The rooms are simple, very clean and comfortable. The food is plentiful and very good. Highly recommend this tour!
Well organised, the guide Tony was faultless, knowledgeable and great company. The hotel was a lovely family run place and nothing was too much effort for the staff. The walks themselves just got better and better each day, ending with the 'Walk of the Gods'. It was our second trip with Exodus and we have booked for next year already.
Really good trip covering the highlights of the Amalfi Coast. Some of the walking was a bit challenging but overall really enjoyed the experience - and the Path of the Gods was my favourite. It was really nice to stay in one place for the whole week and the food at the hotel was really good. Also liked the demonstrations we had in the kitchen and I have brought a few of the ideas home with me. I also opted to go yo Herculaneum on my free day which I enjoyed far more than Pompeii.
Wonderful scenery walking paths in various conditions with plenty of steps
The walks and views were as good as I hoped for
Thank you Exodus for such a wonderful adventure from beginning to end. Our tour guide Stefano was everything you could want and more. Informative, knowledgeable, flexible and lots of fun. Hotel 2 Torri was outstanding! Set in the beautiful surrounds of the peaceful town of Bomerano. Perfectly located in the Amalfi Coast. The Acampora family welcomed us warmly into their home. Owners Giovanni and Nicola treated everyone as family and their hospitality was excellent! Manager Gerardo Manna is amazing! A charming host who coordinates top service and waitering. Gerardo excelled in his efforts to meet everyone’s needs. His warm friendliness and consideration must also be noted. A great communicator and people person. Lots of fun! It was absolutely magical to hike the many surrounding treks of the Amalfi Coast. After each trek we arrived home to Hotel 2 Torri to a relaxing happy hour followed by the most beautiful food made with Italia love. I love to cook and was given the opportunity to help with the cooking demonstrations. The kitchen staff were great! I had the best time! Many wonderful memories made. I highly recommend this exceptional experience. Vi amo tutti all’ Hotel 2 Torri ❤️
Our first hiking vacation and the whole experience was incredible. Our guide, Louise, was energetic and so very passionate about her joy of hiking as she lead our group of 16. Strangers we were on our day or arrival but friendships formed quickly as we enjoyed our mutual love of exploring new countries and hiking the most amazing trails. Each day was fantastic as Louise expertly guided us safely along the paths we walked, encouraged us when we needed encouragement and was helpful in so many ways. Hotel was well located, meals delicious and accommodations comfortable. Each staff member @ our hotel worked hard and made us all feel welcome. Would highly recommend this itinerary. Glad we did this in mid-late September. Weather still warm but not blazing hot.
A very varied trip of very scenic walks, unexpected extras (eg a visit to a Mozzarella producer; making a pizza; making tiramisu), lovely quiet hotel, great guide (Tony) and superb optional extras.
This can only be described as the best way to see the Amalfi Coast. What a beautiful place.
What more can we say,,, fabulous walks, great hotel with great staff. Our guide Vania is fantastic making everyone feel welcome right from the beginning! Her bright breezy funny chat was great and very informative. She always had an answer for all our dumb questions!
I really loved this trip to the Amalfi Coast, and it was just what I was looking for in terms of a relaxing, but active, New Year break. A nice mix of walking and culture, with no early starts or late finishes and plenty of time for a relaxing coffee or two after walks had finished. The Hotel Due Torri where you stay for the whole week is a family run hotel with a nice atmosphere, delicious food, and a fabulous range of cocktails (the limoncello spritz was the 'drink of the holiday'!). Enjoyed the opportunity to visit Pompeii and Herculaneum, as well as a trip to the crater of Vesuvius. Thanks also to our tour leader Teresa for helping to make this a fabulous week.
